The Roadery Cafe Retro Tours of The American West

The Roadery Cafe Retro Tours of The American West

The Roadery: Cafe Retro Tours Of The American West

We’re really excited to be offering The Roadery Cafe Retro Tours of The American West. Harleys or GS-style adventure bikes not your thing? Combine tasty, cafe-retro styled motorcycles, great roads, thrilling destinations, with EagleRider’s impressive infrastructure backing you up, and you’ve got The Roadery. The Roadery Self-Drive tours are designed to instill a sense of true adventure, with a minimal and vintage aesthetic that underscores this intent. Accordingly, the bikes offered for these tours offer a “less is more” riding experience – your choice of a late model Triumph Bonneville & Thruxton, or Harley Sportster & Nightster. These bikes are spiritual descendants of the Cafe Racers of the 1950′s and early 1960′s – lightweight, easy handling, with tons of character and modern reliability (that’s why we refer to them as “Cafe Retro”). Passenger comfort, luggage capacity and weather protection are minimal; the feelings you’ll experience in the saddle: visceral. (Other bikes are available for an up charge, please enquire).

Great Rides From Los Angeles: Big Bear Lake

In late September, we met up with our buddy Shawn from EagleRider, who invited us on a ride from ERHQ in Los Angeles to Big Bear Lake. We often ride Harley Davidson motorcycles from EagleRider, but on this trip, we sampled some more exotic mounts from the hire fleet: a 2012 BMW 1200 GS, a 2013 Triumph Tiger 800, and a 2013 BMW F800GT. We’ll be posting a ride review of these bikes in the 2nd part of this story, coming soon.

Ride the Easy Rider Bikes

Ride the Easy Rider Bikes

EagleRider Easy Rider Movie Guided Tour

Want to get a ride on replicas of the iconic motorcycles from the classic biker flick “Easy Rider”? Here’s how you can.

Ride the Easy Rider Bikes! Ever since seeing the film “Easy Rider” for the first time, we’ve wondered what it would be like to ride the motorcycles used in the iconic film. Say the word “chopper” and most people immediately think of Fonda’s red, white and blue machine. These old-school choppers look uncompromising because they are. There are no concessions to comfort, especially on the Captain America bike, with ape hangers, forward controls and a kicked back riding position. Both bikes had tiny gas tanks with little range, and the Captain America didn’t even have a front brake! Still, who would turn down a ride on either of these bikes?

A Coast To Coast Motorcycle Ride Across America

We get many emails and calls from riders who want to take a motorcycle across America, which is really encouraging. Between us, Tim and myself have crossed America five times by bike, and every time it’s different. You really get a sense of how huge the USA is, and no matter how many stops you make, there are always regrets over the things you didn’t have time to see. Maybe that’s why we keep doing it!

The Pacific Coast Highway is one of THE bucket list motorcycling roads in America, for good reason. With hundreds of miles of dramatic ocean views and twisty cliffside tarmac, PCH is one of those roads you want to ride again and again. We’ve ridden from Los Angeles to San Francisco on this road at least a dozen times, and each time it’s a treat.

Great Motorcycle Destinations: Eureka, Nevada

Great Motorcycle Destinations: Eureka, Nevada

Great Motorcycle Destinations Eureka Nevada

One of our favorite biking destinations in America is the historic mining town of Eureka, Nevada. Highway 50, nicknamed “America’s Loneliest Road” goes right through it, so if you’re riding 50 it’s a perfect place to stop and get some gas and lunch, or better yet to spend the night. As you can see from the photos, the town is very well preserved, with many of the old buildings intact. Not all of them are still occupied, and many are condemned, but you really get a feel for what it was like in the late 1800’s gold rush era. Founded in 1864, Eureka came to be due to the discovery of gold in the area. At one time, more than 10,000 people lived in Eureka, there were 125 saloons and 25 gambling houses, but when the gold ran out, so did Eureka’s prosperity. Less than 2,000 people live in Eureka today.

Great Motorcycle Destinations: Alice’s Restaurant

Great Motorcycle Destinations: Alice’s Restaurant

There are plenty of great places to ride to in the San Francisco area, and one of our favorites is Alice’s Restaurant. This is one of the most famous motorcycle destinations in Northern California (really, in the whole of the USA) for good reason. All roads that lead to it are highly entertaining to ride; there are almost always a pack of really interesting bikes parked outside; and inside, the menu and decor are “motorcycle-centric”. We’ve stopped into Alice’s every year on our Laguna Seca MotoGP tour, which we’ve been doing since 2005. The food is always great, the staff friendly, and it’s really nice after a spirited ride to sit outside in the sun and soak it all in.

San Francisco is an incredible city, one of our favorite places to begin a motorcycle tour. It’s probably the most motorcycle friendly city in the US, it’s just so much fun to ride around town. The scenery is unforgettable: Fisherman’s Wharf, Chinatown, Alcatraz, cable cars, Lombard Street and the undulating hills that Steve McQueen raced around in the classic 60’s film Bullitt.

50 Tips For Riding A Motorcycle Across America

Crossing America on a motorcycle is the dream of many a rider. There’s something romantic about traversing the USA on two wheels, perhaps because it’s fairly challenging due to the sheer stamina required to ride 4,000 miles. There’s a lot to consider when planning a coast to coast trip – do you use your own bike, or rent one? How will you get back home when the ride’s done? What should you bring, and what should you leave at home? How long should you take, and what route?

Great Day Rides From Las Vegas

Great Day Rides From Las Vegas

Great Motorcycle Rides from Las Vegas

EagleRider has over 70 locations in the USA, in just about every major city, and within reach of pretty much any tourist destination you’d want to visit. One of our favorite places to start a ride is Las Vegas, which is home to an EagleRider corporate location just ten minutes from the Strip. Las Vegas is an incredibly exciting place, but if you want a change of pace after a few days of partying, there are some great sights within reach of Sin City. You can hire a bike for just a day, using Las Vegas as a base, or pick up your bike and head out for a few days and do a loop. Or, go for a longer ride and maybe drop the bike off in Los Angeles, or San Francisco! There are tons of options. Here are three of our favorite short rides out of Las Vegas (click the names of any of the places for links to more information):
